Voiced in 1995 by Irene Bedard, Pocahontas was the first American ‘Princess’ due to her being Native American. Although Pocahontas isn’t from and doesn’t marry into any monarchy, she’s still considered a princess because she’s the daughter of a Native American chief.
Appearance & Personality
Pocahontas is distinguishable from her dark skin, distinct Native American features, long, black hair, the body art on her arm, her beige cloth dress and her angular blue necklace.
Snow White was completely at one with nature but Pocahontas was just on a whole other level to her! Pocahontas takes complete pride in the land she’s settled on and she takes care of all of animals on it too. Because she lives in the ‘outdoors’, her whole life revolves around nature. Pocahontas even has two best friends – Meeko the raccoon and Flit the hummingbird.
Pocahontas’s Main Characteristics:
Pocahontas’ name means “Little Mischief” or the “naughty one” She is based on the real historical figure, and was born into a highly sophisticated Native American culture that had some knowledge of Europeans.
In the film, she appears to have shamanic powers since she was able to commune with nature, talk to spirits, empathize with animals, and understand unknown languages.
